They say ignorance is bliss...
Conventional agriculture is not great. Often it's downright frightening. Mega-monocutlures, synthetic chemical use, heavy tillage, and other practices leave the soil and surrounding landscape degraded and produces lower quality food. Our goal is to grow high quality produce that leaves our local environment and community better off.
By focusing on the health of our soil we believe we can grow more nutrient dense produce that is resistant to pests, disease and drought. We are commited to a reduced tillage schedule with hopes of avoiding tillage in the future.
Black Ash Gardens is a small-scale 'organic' vegetable farm located in Collingwood, Ontario. Named after the Creek that runs through the farm, Black Ash Gardens is located 10 mins from Collingwood Terminal at the bottom of the escarpment. We acknowledge that the farm is on the traditional unceded territory of the Petun, Anishinaabe and Huron peoples. We are grateful to be the current stewards of this land.
