While studying Geography at University, Matt learned of the negative externalities of our food system and his interest in sustainable agriculture was born. After working for a number of years in downtown Toronto, he knew a change was needed and decided to follow his passion of starting a small farm geared towards sustainabilty. By mixing traditional knowledge with modern technology, he hopes that Black Ash Gardens is environmentally, socially and economically sustainable.
